Portraits of New Zealand writers by Maja Moritz
We know most authors’ faces by those small, cropped rectangles on the back flap or back cover of their book. Here we present some of New Zealand’s best loved writers up large – including Eleanor Catton, Elizabeth Knox, Patricia Grace, Witi Ihimaera and more. Photographer Maja Moritz was tasked with capturing the writers who represented New Zealand at the 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair, where New Zealand was guest of honour. She has brought these literary portraits together into an exhibition, 43 NZ Authors, and generously shared some of her portraits here.
